Al Abels was one of the first Field Professionals to join the Carroll Media Services Network in 1993, first working in Northern California before moving to the Atlanta metro area in 2004 with his wife Josie to assume a similar role.
Al graduated from Drake University Class of ’66 where he majored in advertising and minored in political science. After college Al began his career in leasing for Naegele Outdoor in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1969 he joined the National Outdoor Advertising Bureau as a field representative in the Midwest, and after two years he moved to California to assume the position of West Coast Supervisor. In 1973, Al started a twenty year plus career with Gannett Outdoor of Northern California, where he served as marketing manager, sales service manager, and headed up the charting and traffic departments. Al left Gannett in 1993 and went to work for Carroll Media as a Field Professional in Northern California.
